Taekwondo

Taekwondo has been incorporated into the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000. Competition based on the legs (punches given with the fists do not score), which will make this competition a spectacular moment.

Inclusive Taekwondo Regulations

Main Federations

Organization: Spanish Royal Taekwondo Federation (RFETaekwondo).

Participating Athletes

Number of Participants: 6 athletes in total.

  • Distribution:
    • 4 men and 2 women.
    • 3 athletes with disabilities.
    • 3 athletes without disabilities.

Pair Formation:

  • Participants will compete in mixed pairs or duos (one athlete with a disability and one without a disability).

Competitions - Events

Combat Modality: 3 inclusive mixed combats will be held, divided into:

  • 2 male combats.
  • 1 female combat.

Poomsae Modality: Poomsae in Pairs (Mixed Duo)

  • The pairs will demonstrate their skills in Poomsae, a series of pre-established movements simulating a fight against several imaginary opponents.
  • Three Poomsae events will be held:
    • Intellectual Disability Mixed Duo Poomsae: Two teams consisting of one athlete with intellectual disability and one athlete without disability will participate.
    • Visual Disability Mixed Duo Poomsae: Two teams consisting of one athlete with visual disability and one athlete without disability will participate.
    • Physical Disability Mixed Duo Poomsae: Two teams consisting of one athlete with physical disability and one athlete without disability will participate.

Scoring

Combat:

  • The standard scoring system for Taekwondo will be applied, according to the rules established by the RFETaekwondo.
  • Points will be awarded based on standard rules, including scoring for techniques and points awarded during matches.

Poomsae:

  • Technical execution, precision, and synchronization between the two athletes of each duo will be evaluated.
  • Scoring System: The standard Poomsae scoring system will be applied, considering technique, balance, energy expression, and coordination.
  • The duo with the highest score in each Poomsae category will be declared the winner.

Awards

Medals:

  • Gold Medal: Awarded to the winner of each combat and to the duo with the highest score in Poomsae.
  • Silver Medal: Awarded to the runner-up of each combat and to the duo that finishes in second place in Poomsae.
