Duathlon

Four teams will compete, each team consisting of a disabled competitor paired with a non-disabled one. 800 meters of running, 2 km of cycling and 400 meters of running. The thrill of the best duathlon in both segments.

Inclusive Duathlon Regulations

Main Federations

Organization: The tournament is organized under the regulations of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) and the Spanish Federation of Sports for the Deaf (FEDS).

Participating Athletes

Number of Teams: 4 teams.

  • Team Composition: Each team will consist of 4 triathletes, organized in pairs:
    • 2 triathletes without disabilities (one man and one woman).
    • 2 triathletes with disabilities.

Competitions - Events

Competition Format: A mixed relay duathlon in a 1+1x2 format will be held.

Distances and Competition Structure:

  • Each triathlete will complete the following course:
    • 800 meters running.
    • 2 kilometers cycling.
    • 400 meters running.
  • Relay Format:
    • First Relay: One triathlete (either with or without a disability) will complete the three stages (running, cycling, running).
    • Second Relay: The teammate will complete the same three stages (running, cycling, running).
  • Relay Sequence:
    • The relay sequence is 1+1x2, meaning one triathlete from the team starts, and another takes over to complete the second round.
    • There will be alternation between athletes with and without disabilities within the same team.

Approximate total duration of 40 minutes (from 16:30 to 17:10).

Scoring

Scoring System:

  • The official duathlon scoring system will be applied according to the rules established by FETRI.
  • Victory: The team that completes the course in the shortest total time, combining the times of both triathletes in each relay, will win.

Tie-Breaking Criteria:

  • In the event of a tie in total time, standard tie-breaking rules according to FETRI regulations will apply.

Awards

Medals:

  • Gold Medal: Awarded to the team that completes the course with the best total time.
  • Silver Medal: Awarded to the team that finishes in second place.
